We Take a Bold, Innovative Approach to Education

The Coalition for the Common Good (CCG) is a groundbreaking alliance of independent, nonprofit colleges and universities united by a shared mission:

We believe that education should advance not only careers, but also the common good including democracy, social justice, equity, inclusion, and engaged global citizenship.

We believe that the benefits of higher education cannot be reserved solely for those persons coming from a place of privilege, but rather that through education we can counter the inequalities embedded in our society by those institutions and individuals seeking to maintain their privilege.

We believe that through collaboration, rather than competition, institutions of higher education can become a stronger force for good,

And we believe that now is the time to take action.

Why Become a Member Institution?

Shared Mission and Values

The CCG is built around a collective commitment to education as a tool for social change. If your institution values equity, inclusion, and the common good, the CCG provides a platform to amplify your impact through shared resources and collective action.

Growth and Innovation

As a member, your institution will have access to expanded academic offerings, increased enrollment opportunities, and the ability to serve traditional, graduate, and adult learners through a unique partnership with member institutions. Together, we can reach more students and address local and national workforce needs.

Financial and Operational Efficiency

Members retain all of the revenue of their traditional undergraduate enrollment and share in the net revenue margins of a growing national graduate and adult learner program operated by Antioch University. Additionally, the CCG operates a Support Service Organization designed to improve services, strengthen institutional benches, and create some savings through efficiencies.

Strengthened Impact

Through this national network, your institution gains access to diverse academic programs, a broad geographic footprint, and the collective power of multiple schools working together to tackle the challenges of today’s educational landscape.

At its core, unlike other higher education systems, the CCG is built around a shared purpose: Education for a more just society.

An Idea Learners Value

Market research* undertaken by the Coalition found that overwhelming majorities of undergraduate and graduate students would be more interested in a college or university that is a member of an integrated system—like the Coalition for the Common Good—that provides students with more learning and co-educational opportunities.

Of surveyed, graduate and adult students were more likely to be interested in a school that is a member of such an alliance.
